ANOTHER YEAR GOES IN THE BOOKS!

30 teams entered the tournament being held back at Shouldice Park for the 40th annual edition of Cities. Defending A champs Kodiaks were looking to defend their title while Thumb In were vying for their first championship. Perennial contenders such as Yard Dogs, Athletics and Nice Snatch were all out to enjoy a competitive weekend of ball. Newbies such as We'd Hit That, Riverstone Shockers and Diamond Cutters were hoping to make a run late into Sunday. As the week unfolded, rainout forced us to adjust the schedule and put more games into the Saturday and Sunday. It made for some long days of ball, but with September ball, what more can you ask for in the send off to the season? With Tuxedo, Worth and Common Crown all on site on Saturday, teams were treated to a great weekend after suffering through the cold, wet evenings on Thursday and Friday. As the round robin wrapped up the teams found themselves seeded for the playoff round.

A Division - 1. Som R Swingers, 2. Yard Dogs, 3. Kodiaks, 4. Diamond Cutters, 5. Heat, 6. Rockyview Heat, 7. Athletics, 8. Nice Snatch

B Division - 1. Thumbs In, 2. Heavy D's, 3. Barley Bandits, 4. We'd Hit That, 5. Big Deals, 6. C U Next Tuesday, 7. Alpha Q, 8. Brewers

C Division - 1. Pitches Be Crazy, 2. La Flama Blanca (RPSL), 3. Riverstone Shockers, 4. Slow Kids at Play, 5. Bandits, 6. Strongbeers, 7. Down By Four

D. Division - 1. Ballz Deep, 2. La Flama Blanca (RMSL), 3. Holes and Poles, 4. Bloody Penguins, 5. Dingbats, 6. Creatures, 7. Got The Runs

As the playoff round began it was evident that the seeding formula worked as most games were fairly hotly contested. Teams that were seeded low made some lengthy runs in the playoffs and we even had a 7th seed win a division.

We hope that everyone involved had a great weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the tournament unfold. We'll see everyone next season.
